Seven musicians, one songbook, and a genuine soft spot for what Carlos Santana did with a guitar. Soul Sacrifice run the Latin rock catalogue properly, from Black Magic Woman and Oye Como Va through Smooth, Maria Maria, Corazon Espinado and Evil Ways, then into the deeper material like Incident at Neshabur, Samba Pa Ti, Europa and Soul Sacrifice itself. It's percussion heavy, it's built for dancing, and the set runs long enough to cover a whole night in Melbourne. Bill McGillivray of the Eltham Jazz Festival summed the band up as not needing the real thing when you've got this one. Production can be supplied if the venue doesn't have it.

What comes out of that is a Latin rock show with a lot of energy in it and very little dead air. The percussion drives things along and the dance floor tends to fill. If you want a night where people are up and moving rather than politely seated, this is the shape of it.
