The Beehives
The act
The Beehives is a Gold Coast-based Motown-Inspired girl group.
A wedding that lights up at the thought of The Supremes, The Ronettes and Dusty Springfield will get what The Beehives do straight away. They're a Gold Coast trio of singer dancers, built around sweet harmonies, soul, Motown and the girl group sound of the 60s and 70s, with later nods to names like Amy Winehouse, Adele and Duffy. At a wedding, they make most sense when you want people moving early, because dance crazes and songs like Let's Twist Again and Land Of A Thousand Dances are part of the set. The beehive hair, make-up and costumes matter here too, so it lands as a full retro show rather than just a set of songs. This suits a couple chasing nostalgia, colour and a dance floor with a bit of cheek to it.
