Guitar, voice, and a repertoire listed A to Z because it needs to be. Michael Hickey plays acoustic solo on the Gold Coast, and the range of rooms he suits is the useful part: cafes and restaurants, club venues, function rooms, milestone birthdays and anniversaries, wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate nights. His style is relaxed but classic, and the catalogue runs long enough to fill hours without repeating. A Thousand Years, Ain't No Sunshine, April Sun in Cuba, Better Be Home Soon, All of Me. He can sit back and hold the atmosphere or take the room's full attention. Own PA that covers up to 400 people, or he'll adapt to a house system. Needs a two-metre square dry, covered spot near power.

Good to know
What to expect
Michael Hickey reads the room before he decides how loud to be. A cafe lunch service, a club room, a function space, a wedding ceremony rolling into the reception, a work Christmas do: the set bends to fit each one. His playing sits in that relaxed but classic lane, and the song list is deep enough that he can go hours without circling back. Some of the night he'll sit under the conversation and just hold the atmosphere. Later, when people want to actually listen, he steps forward and takes the room. You get someone easy to deal with in the lead up and tidy on the day, which matters more than most people expect.
On the day
He turns up self contained, with a PA that comfortably covers a room of up to 400. If your venue already runs an in-house system, he'll plug into that instead. What he needs from you is small: a flat, dry, covered patch about two metres square, with 240V mains power close by. Ask if you want the full technical details and he'll send them through.
