Kim Mainwright plays solo acoustic guitar, mostly fingerstyle instrumental arrangements of popular tunes, blues and jazz standards, plus original pieces that carry everything from blues to flamenco. No backing tracks, no effects pedals. Kim is an accomplished electric player with years in rock and blues bands but leaves that gear at home for solo work, relying on the playing itself, with vocals, harmonica and an acoustic stomp box added here and there. That means the set can sit quietly in the background or step up in intensity when the crowd wants something to listen to.
