The act
Gypsy swing in the Django Reinhardt tradition, flamenco with some fire in it, jazz standards played sweet, and a handful of originals in between. That's the shape of this Brisbane classical guitar set. The playing moves fast and then sits back, going from driving rhythm work to slow, nostalgic melody without much warning. Live looping gets used too, layering parts up so a solo guitarist fills a room like a group. One reviewer called it a jaw dropping display of guitar virtuosity, which gives you the idea. Good fit for a function that wants real musicianship in the background and something worth stopping for when the speeches are done.
