The set sits mostly at the loud end of the Silverchair catalogue, with a handful of quieter songs dropped in so it isn't one relentless hour. A 50 minute set is the usual booking, or two sets split by a 20 minute break. The crowd they pull is broad, teenagers through to people in their sixties, and it skews male at roughly two in three.
The floor needs to be hard and flat, about 3m by 5m, and an enclosed room keeps the sound where it belongs. A stage with truss rigging and curtains is better again, with tables and chairs out front. On the sound side they're after a 12 channel mixer, front of house speakers and amplifier, three foldback wedges, four drum mics and four microphone stands. Lighting at minimum means a white spot on the singer and some ambient wash; follow spots, moving heads, strobes and haze are the fuller version. The band can supply some sound and lighting themselves, and can point you to hire sources, though transport and paying for it stay with you. Registered security at the door and the stage front is strongly recommended. All of it gets talked through while the booking is being put together.
