Paul has been playing a long time, and the thing he's best at isn't a particular song. It's reading what a room wants and giving it that. Tell him what you need from the night, quiet under conversation or loud and front of house, and he'll get you there without a fuss. No dramas is the whole approach, and after this many years he means it.
