The act
Seventeen musicians, over 600 charts, and trumpeter John Webster out front. Swing West Jazz Orchestra is a big band from Western Sydney, based around Penrith, and it plays the music that built the form: Sinatra, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Glenn Miller, Buddy Rich, Peggy Lee, Natalie Cole, Gordon Goodwin, Maynard Ferguson, Broadway, Latin, Disney and a handful of swinging Christmas numbers when December comes around. Many players have thirty-plus professional years behind them. Vocalist Jessica Zamprogno fronts the band, and her own work runs from Princess Cruises production singing to Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Mamma Mia. Clubs, private functions and charity nights are the regular diet. A smaller ten-piece line-up with singer is available where the stage won't take eighteen. They can bring PA and lighting. Insured.

Good to know
What to expect
Seventeen players and a repertoire that stretches back to the music that made the form. Trumpeter John Webster leads it, and the charts run through Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and the rest, with Disney numbers in there too, so the appeal isn't limited to one generation in the room. Vocalist Jessica Zamprogno fronts it, and her background is broad: television, cabaret, production singing for Princess Cruises, the Sydney Showboats, and lead roles in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Mamma Mia. Where a stage won't take a full big band, there's a ten piece version, and a smaller jazz combo below that.
On the day
Stage space for eighteen musicians, so medium to large is the honest description. That's the single biggest thing to check before booking. PA and lighting are available from the band if your venue doesn't have its own.
Performance options
The full band is eighteen strong, and many of the players have thirty or more professional years behind them, in their own jazz outfits or backing well-known Australian and international names. Based around Penrith, they've spent years on club stages, private functions and fundraisers across Western Sydney. The book covers Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich, Natalie Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Buble, Glenn Miller, Disney classics and swinging Christmas material in December. Black tie corporate nights, weddings, club shows and fundraisers all suit it.
