Summerfield are an Adelaide band built around a core of five, expanding to six with extra vocals, banjo and fiddle, or trimming to four when the room is smaller. That flexibility is genuinely useful. Fiddle and mandolin can carry the quiet end of a wedding, then the same players turn it into rock and pop until the floor fills. Country, Irish, classic rock, or a blend, and the setlist gets structured around what you want rather than what they usually do. Think Flame Trees, Brown Eyed Girl, Copperhead Road, Down Under. What to expect
The quiet half and the loud half come from the same five players. Fiddle and mandolin sit behind a wedding ceremony or a long dinner without getting in the way of anyone talking. Then the gear changes and it's rock and pop until the floor fills. Over a hundred songs to pick from, spanning pop, rock, country and Irish, and you're welcome to choose which ones and in what order. Blend the styles if you want. There's also a violinist in the ranks who plays classical and Irish ballads for ceremonies, either alone or alongside guitar and vocals.
On the day
Summerfield turn up with the whole PA and put it together themselves. Worth knowing: that same system handles your speeches, so you're not chasing a separate microphone for the father of the bride or the boss's thank you. One less line on the run sheet.
Performance options
Between sets the band keeps music going by DJing recorded tracks, so the room doesn't drop into silence while everyone's getting a drink. Requests are welcome, whether that's a first dance or a song that means something to the family.
