Splashing Mood

The act

Astrid sings, Matt plays a groove led melodic guitar, and between them Splashing Mood cover 60s standards through to whatever is charting now. The sound sits soulful and easy early on, then gets funkier as the night moves. Based near Newcastle and set up for weddings and functions, they bring pro sound and lighting and can hand you a mic for speeches. A DJ set is on the table if you want music running after the live sets end. They hold public liability and professional indemnity cover.

Good to know

What to expect

The night has an arc to it. Early on it's loose and acoustic, easy to talk over, with the funk creeping in as more people arrive and the room warms up. By the back half it's properly groovy. Astrid and Matt run their own sound and lighting, so the corner they play in ends up looking like a stage rather than two people in a dim spot. If someone needs to say a few words, there's a mic ready for it.

On the day

One thing on the list for you: a working power outlet near where they'll be playing. The sound system is theirs and it's a proper rig, not a couple of speakers on a pole, so it does want mains power rather than a battery. Everything else arrives in the car with them.

Performance options

Wedding and corporate bookings get shaped around what the day actually needs. Two common additions: a solo instrumental guitar set for the quieter stretches, arrivals, canapes, a ceremony, and a DJ set to keep the floor busy once the live playing wraps. Tell them the shape of your run sheet and they'll work out which pieces fit.
