Guitar, voice, nothing else. Rod McGrath came back to live performance after leaving the corporate world behind, and he's deliberate about keeping the act simple: no pedals, no loopers, no backing tracks. Just the songs. He plays well known covers alongside originals written out of his own life, the kind people recognise something of themselves in. The sets run 45 minutes and cover a lot of ground, from Lay Lady Lay and Dock of the Bay to Better Be Home Soon, Wonderwall, Khe Sanh and Hallelujah. Perth based. The aim, in his words, is to create atmosphere and let people enjoy themselves. He'll bring battery power for outdoor gigs.

Good to know
What to expect
Relaxed. Rod McGrath's aim is atmosphere rather than spectacle, so the guitar and voice sit in the room at a level that lets people talk, eat and enjoy themselves without raising their voices. Easy going is the word he uses for it, and it holds up.
On the day
Access to the venue an hour before the first song. Mains power is preferred, but for outdoor bookings he carries battery power, so a paddock or a garden with no power point is still workable. Say which situation you are in when you enquire.
