Around them sits a run of instrumental surf rock that's worth the ticket on its own, Wipeout and Pipeline and Link Wray's Rumble, plus Dire Straits, Boys of Summer and We Will Rock You. Dave Ben Lee holds a Fellowship Diploma in Electric Guitar Performance from the London College of Music and founded Sydney alt rockers Accidental President. Acoustic, semi acoustic with backing, or full electric. Setup is quick, and small venues can be handled on battery powered amplification.

On the day
Not much: enough floor for one player and an amp, and a short window to plug in. Setup is fast. Tight rooms are no obstacle either, because there is a battery powered rig for venues where mains power or volume is a problem. Worth telling him the size of the room when you enquire, along with whether the venue has a house PA, its own lighting and someone running sound. That decides which of his setups comes through the door.
