Good to know
What to expect
Neil Finn's songs, three voices, and no big production around it. This trio play the Crowded House catalogue unplugged and they want you singing along, which most rooms end up doing without much encouragement. It suits a beer garden or a winery afternoon better than a nightclub. Dinner and show, restaurants, markets, festivals, outdoor stages, private parties and corporate rooms all work. You get a big sound out of it without the floor space and the load in that a full band brings.
On the day
If your venue has no PA, they'll handle the whole sound setup themselves and you don't need to organise anything. Where there is a house system, they usually bring their own desk and run it into your rig, which keeps the sound sitting where they know it works. Either way it's their problem, not yours. Just tell them what the room already has when you enquire.
Performance options
The booking is measured in sets rather than hours. One, two or three sixty minute sets is the usual shape, and for a ticketed night or a dinner show a single longer set of ninety minutes or two hours can replace the split. Sound is arranged either way: the band brings its own PA, or plays through whatever the venue already has, and the arrangement changes depending on which one you go with. Melbourne metro and the greater Geelong area are home ground. Further afield is fine, and interstate work needs travel and accommodation sorted as part of the booking.
