Four North Coast musicians who love the blues and aren't precious about it. MERCY-MERCY play classic and contemporary covers with their own twist on most of them, and drop originals through the set: Miss You, Have Mercy, Dr Blues, Man Up, Sacred Ground, Summer Days. The covers pull from BB King, Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Tracy Chapman, Tedeschi Trucks Band and ZZ Top. In 2018 three of their songs were shortlisted in the Australian Songwriters Association Awards, one of them finishing tenth. They've held down regular rooms for years now, including The Rails in Byron Bay, Cherry Street Sports, Shaws Bay Hotel, Chinderah Tavern, the Dolphin Hotel and Twin Towns. Their own description of what to expect is four people committed to playing their backsides off. They carry a full PA and lighting when a venue needs it.

Good to know
What to expect
Four people who play the blues properly and put everything into it. That's their own description and it's a fair one. You'll hear classic and contemporary blues covers with their own stamp on most of them, BB King and Buddy Guy through to Bonnie Raitt, Tracy Chapman and ZZ Top, and their own songs dropped through the night alongside. Miss You, Have Mercy, Dr Blues, Sacred Ground. Three of their originals were shortlisted in the Australian Songwriters Association Awards in 2018. They've held down regular rooms on the North Coast for years, so this is a band that knows how to work a pub crowd rather than just play at one.
On the day
If your venue runs its own sound, what they'd like is three vocal mics, two on guitars, a line out for bass, and at least four on the kit: kick, snare and a pair overhead. Simple enough for most rooms. If you've got nothing, they carry a full rig instead. That's a 16 channel Yamaha desk, a powered sub, two powered fifteens, four foldback wedges, and six cans for lighting. So a bare room is not a problem, it just means telling them in advance.
Performance options
A standard night from them is three sets. Three forty five minute sets is the usual shape, or three full hours if you want the longer version. Both draw on the same mix of blues covers and their own material. They can turn up with a full PA and lights when there's nothing at the venue, or plug into yours when there is. Travel further out from the Northern Rivers is worth mentioning when you enquire so it can be worked into the quote.
