The act
Male and female vocals, two guitars, and harmonies that are the whole reason to book this one. May Rocket work out of Adelaide as an acoustic duo, and scale to a trio, a four to seven piece band, or a band with a DJ attached. Distance doesn't bother them, they've played interstate and overseas. The range is genuinely wide: jazz and lounge for fine dining, top 40, rock, reggae, hip hop and rap when the floor needs filling. Requests get taken. Someone will ask for Tribute, Good Riddance, Summer of '69 or The Horses, and they'll be ready. They run dual array PAs so the sound reaches the back of the room without flattening the front.

What to expect
You steer this one. May Rocket can play a classical-leaning ballad that suits fine dining, or turn around and deliver punk, heavy metal, RnB, rap and hip hop when the floor needs filling, so the brief you give them genuinely decides the night. The core setup is acoustic guitar and two voices, which is the light end. Add bass and a kick drum board and the duo gets some groove under it. Bring in a percussionist for a trio. Or go bigger again with a four, five, six or seven piece and a DJ working alongside.
On the day
If the PA is yours, they arrive plug and play. If it's theirs, they need setup time, and how much depends on the venue size, the line-up you've booked, the crowd and the access. Anywhere from fifteen minutes to a couple of hours, so give them as long as you can. They'll be there early either way. Ramped access makes life much easier, though they've carried gear up worse and will manage if there's no alternative.
Performance options
The acoustic duo is the starting point, and for a wedding it can include wireless microphones for the MC and speeches plus a live recording of the aisle or first dance song. Upgrade to a trio or a four to seven piece band for any of it. There's DJ and MC work, a drummer DJ with live bongos and percussion played over the top, and an instrumental DJ using sax, trumpet, flute, guitar or piano. Progressive bookings move you from acoustic duo through to band or DJ as the night goes on. PA hire and scripted lighting shows can be added, with lasers, gobo spots, haze, confetti and bubbles.
