Over 400 songs and well past a thousand gigs. MarkGee is a Melbourne solo acoustic performer who also plays trumpet, which is not something most one man bands can say. His material runs sixties to now: INXS, Hunters and Collectors, Paul Kelly, Crowded House, Dragon, Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham, Daddy Cool, The Angels, The Church, Bowie, The Beatles, Billy Joel. He builds themed shows around particular artists, including a Herb Alpert set with live trumpet, and does Christmas carols with trumpet over backings. At a wedding he'll learn a song that matters to you and play it. Expect energy and crowd participation rather than background music. He can also expand out to a duo, trio or band.

Good to know
What to expect
Energy, and a fair bit of it. MarkGee doesn't sit in the corner playing background music while people eat. He works the crowd, gets them involved, and pulls out things a solo acoustic act doesn't usually have in the bag, the trumpet being the obvious one. If you want a performer people notice rather than one they forget was there, that's the trade he's making.
Performance options
Several shapes, depending on the night. A three hour booking runs as three sets, and there's a shorter two hour, two set version for smaller occasions. Weddings can include live solo trumpet, and he'll learn a song that means something to you and play it on the day. Around Christmas there's a carols set with solo trumpet over backings. He also builds themed shows, including a Herb Alpert tribute with the trumpet doing the heavy lifting. And if one person isn't enough, MarkGee expands out to a duo, a trio or a full band. Birthdays, engagements, weddings and kids' functions all get covered.
