Mareshah sings, Shane plays guitar, sings, DJs and MCs, and between them this Melbourne duo can carry a whole event from the ceremony through to the last song of the night. The guitar gets looped, the harmonies sit close, and the material runs through Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran, John Farnham and Alicia Keys. Mareshah has sung backing vocals with Tones and I and performed at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl Christmas carols with the Melbourne Gospel Choir. Early on it's soft. Dinner music that lets people hear each other across the table, with Mareshah singing over Shane's guitar. Then the mood shifts. The classics get a bit of funk put through them, and by the back half of the night Shane has moved to the decks and it's a DJ set carrying the dance floor. That handover is the whole point of booking the two of them together, because there's no gap between the live music finishing and the party starting. They read what the room wants and pick accordingly.
On the day
Almost nothing. A power point they can reach, and a flat piece of ground big enough to stand and play on. That's the list. It means a backyard, a deck, a function room or a lawn all work without you hiring anything extra or rearranging the venue around them.
Performance options
Beyond the duo, Shane takes on MC duties, so the announcements and the running order stay with someone who's already in the room and already knows your timeline. The most common wedding booking is the acoustic pair through the earlier part of the day, then a DJ set to close the night out. And if you want more sound than two people can make, they'll bring in a keyboard player, extra vocalists and other musicians and turn it into a full acoustic band.
