The act
James on the music and lights, Naia on the microphone. That's the shape of a Lovin & Co night, whether it's a wedding on the Gold Coast, a house party, or a karaoke night a bar manager wants filled. The karaoke runs off a QR code system James built himself, so people request from their phones instead of queueing at a laptop. Two speakers cover about 250 guests, and the kit includes a DJ booth, Chauvet club lighting and a smoke machine where the venue allows. Wedding couples get consultations and an online portal to keep the running order straight. Sets run three to five hours, with the option of an hour of live performance folded in. They need about 4.5m by 1.5m and an hour either side to set up and pack down.

Good to know
What to expect
James handles the music and the lights, Naia works the microphone. If you're getting married, you'll have consultations with James and Naia, or with your planner, plus access to an online portal so the running order and song choices stay in one place. Booking karaoke instead? Naia hosts it and keeps the crowd engaged, and requests come in by QR code from people's phones rather than a paper catalogue doing laps of the room. The song library runs past 41,000 titles. Naia also sings solo, jazz mainly, though R'n'B, folk and pop are all comfortable ground, which suits a wedding cocktail hour.
On the day
They bring a two speaker system that comfortably covers up to 250 guests, plus a DJ booth, their own Chauvet club lighting and a smoke machine where the venue allows one. Bigger crowd than that, tell them and they'll sort it. For DJ and karaoke work they need roughly 4.5 metres by 1.5 metres, an hour to set up beforehand and an hour to pack down after.
Performance options
Straight DJ sets run three, four or five hours. You can also fold in an hour of live performance on top of a three or four hour DJ set, which works nicely if you want something softer early and a party later. There's a three hour premium hosted karaoke option, or two to three hours of live performance on its own.
