Little Cents pick great songs from the last hundred years and play them like they mean it. Traditional blues and jazz, folk, pop, rock from the sixties through to current hits, plus their own originals played with the same care. The full band runs two vocalists, guitar, ukulele, drums and percussion, and keys when the room's big enough. Scaled down it's Melissa's voice and Jason's finger picking on guitar and tenor uke, which is a different show but not a lesser one. Years of festival stages and community gigs mean a changing schedule or a shifting stage plan doesn't rattle them. They'll bring their own PA or plug into the house system. Melissa also teaches early childhood music and runs family sessions for festivals that want one. Newcastle based.

What to expect
Contemporary folk played by musicians who have spent years on festival bills and at community events, which shows up mostly in how little a change of plan disrupts them. Running behind, a moved stage, a shortened slot: they problem solve cheerfully and get on with it. Music is treated here as a proper art form rather than a night's filler, and the people on stage are paid as professionals doing skilled work. Expect songs chosen with care and played like they matter to the people playing them.
On the day
They'll bring a PA or plug into the house system, whichever makes more sense at your venue. Safe power is the one thing that isn't optional, along with enough time before guests arrive to get the gear up and sounding right. Outdoor gigs are welcome, and they're good at them, but the cover needs to be real cover. Wet musicians are one problem. Wet equipment is a bigger one.
Performance options
There's an extra string to this one worth knowing about. Melissa teaches early childhood music, and she runs musical sessions for parents and young children, which festivals often want alongside a main stage set. So a festival booking can be the band on stage and a family session earlier in the day. Tell them what you've got in mind and it can be built to fit the program.
