Forty years of live work sits behind Liam J Buchanan, and it comes across on stage: guitar, vocals, harmonica, loop station and stomp box, all through his own PA. He plays regularly at hotels, events and parties across Queensland, from regional and rural halls to coastal venues. The covers pull from classic rock, reggae, pop, country and acoustic favourites, Talking Heads through to Johnny Cash, The Doors, Hunters and Collectors, Coldplay. He's also written more than three hundred original songs, and a few make the set. Radio has picked him up along the way, with interviews and airplay on Triple J, 4ZZZ and ABC Radio, and he's appeared on a music television show. Sets range from intense to plain fun, but they're always lively.

Good to know
What to expect
Four decades of live playing, and it shows in how little fuss there is. Liam works solo with vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica and a loop station with stomp box, running through his own professional PA. The repertoire stretches across classic rock, reggae, pop, country and acoustic favourites, with some of his own songs in the mix, so the same act suits a pub, a club, a festival, a private party or a community function. Guitar is his main instrument, but he plays bass, keyboards and drums too, and that broader musicianship comes through in the arrangements.
On the day
Any space with room for a full PA and a mixer. Liam brings the whole rig himself, so you're not organising sound. Just make sure the corner you want him in is big enough for speakers on stands and a desk, rather than a stool in a doorway.
