The act
Glenna Lynes grew up in South Carolina, Marty Brown in country Victoria, and since moving to Port Douglas in 2016 they've made Lady Valiant a deliberately spare thing. A chunky stompbox holds the bottom end, dirty slide guitar sits on top, and the vocals do the rest. Sometimes a drummer joins. It's blues and folk at heart, but the set pulls classic hits and covers from the sixties through to current songs, with their own material worked in. Shows run three 45 minute sets with two short breaks. They need about four metres square and a single powerpoint, and the lights come with them.

What to expect
Their own songs and other people's, mixed through the night rather than kept in separate blocks. Blues and folk are where Lady Valiant sit most naturally, though the set doesn't stay put there. The sound comes from soulful vocals over acoustic guitars with a stomp box holding down the bottom end, which is a lot of weight for two people to generate. Shows run three sets of 45 minutes with two short breaks. Setting up takes half an hour, and packing down takes about the same, so factor that into your timings at both ends.
On the day
About 4 metres by 4 is the ideal patch for them to work in. The only other thing on the list is a single 240v power point somewhere within reach. Lights are part of what they bring, so you don't need to arrange any staging or production around them. Which makes them straightforward to place at a venue with no permanent setup, as long as you've picked the spot beforehand.
