Jazz early, dancing later. Kirsten Allison's Sydney band builds a night in stages, starting with standards like It Had To Be You, Fly Me to the Moon, Autumn Leaves and Cheek to Cheek, drifting through Latin and bossa nova, then landing on pop that gets everyone up: We Are Family, Happy. The repertoire spans decades and suits a mixed-age room. Kirsten liaises with you or your MC before the day so the running order is settled in advance, and set times bend around your schedule. The band works as a two, three, four or five piece to fit the venue. They bring all the sound gear, which means recorded music during breaks and microphones you're welcome to use for speeches.

Good to know
What to expect
Kirsten gets in touch before the day, with you or your MC, and settles the running order in advance. So the timings are sorted before anyone arrives. Set times bend around your schedule rather than the other way round. The song list spans decades and works for a mixed room: standards for the early part of the night, pop later when people are ready to move. If there's a particular song you want for a walk-in, the cake or a first dance, tell them early enough and they'll learn it. The band bring all their own sound gear, so there's recorded music during the breaks and the microphones are there for your speeches.
Performance options
The band scales from two players to five, and both the three hour and five hour bookings can be built at more than one size. The duo is Kirsten on vocals with either keyboards or guitar behind her. The trio adds upright bass to that. A quartet takes it further with drums, or with a saxophone, and there's a five hour quartet option that brings a horn in on top. Which one suits depends less on your budget than on the room. A duo sits nicely under conversation at a smaller reception. A quartet with drums is what you want if the dance floor is going to matter.
