John Hunter plays his own songs, not other people's. Country, blues and folk, guitar and harmonica together, and the songs have been road tested rather than written last month. What he offers alongside that is plain: he turns up on time, he treats the room and the staff with respect, and he doesn't waste anybody's afternoon. He's clear that a large formal wedding reception isn't the right room for him, and that honesty is worth more than an act that says yes to everything.
Small rooms are where John Hunter belongs, and he can play them with light amplification or none at all. Halls and outdoor bookings are a different matter. The space swallows an acoustic guitar and a harmonica, so equipment will need to be hired for those, and that's worth sorting well before the day rather than the week of.
