IMESSA have held a Saturday night residency at Brooklyn Standard since 2018, which shows how they handle a crowd. Brisbane based, they've also played Fridays, Lefty's, Press Club and Suzie Wongs, plus weddings, corporate nights and cruise ships. The repertoire is pop, rock and big dance numbers, eighties onward. The five-piece is a singer out front with guitar, bass, keys and drums, and horns can be added if you want more punch. There's also a duo option, guitar and vocals or keys and vocals, for something quieter. Full production comes with them, including a mic for speeches, and they carry public liability insurance.

Good to know
What to expect
IMESSA have held down a Saturday night residency at Brooklyn Standard since 2018, and a weekly room like that teaches you things a one-off gig never will. They've also played Fridays, Lefty's, Press Club and Suzie Wongs, plus weddings, corporate nights and cruise ships. Expect pop, dance, rock and party bangers, played with a lot of back and forth with the crowd. Bring dancing shoes. That's genuinely the brief.
On the day
They arrive with full production, sound system included, plus a microphone you can use for speeches. Three things needed from you. A clear space to set up, roughly 2m by 2m for the duo or 5m by 5m for the full band. Power needs to reach the performing spot, within about five metres. And a stage area that's undercover, so the gear stays dry. If it's open to the sky, we'll need a wet weather plan agreed when you book.
Performance options
The five piece is the full party version: vocals out front with guitar, bass, keys and drums behind. Add horns to that, saxophone or trumpet or both, and it gets noticeably bigger. If you'd rather keep things easy going, there's a duo, either guitar and vocals or keys and vocals. What shapes a quote is total call out time, how many hours of music you want, how much sound and lighting is needed, and travel. Send through a brief with whatever detail you have and we'll fill in the rest.
