HSB (High Street Boys)

The act

The High Street Boys play rock and roll with a wide net around it: vintage pop, country, blues, soul, ska and a few slow ones for the couples. April Sun in Cuba, Mustang Sally, Pretty Woman, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, Sweet Caroline. Older guests get the 60s and 70s hits they grew up on, and there's enough from the 80s onwards to keep everyone else dancing. The players have a lot of years between them, so the band reads a room and can drop from full throttle to a mellow slow dance without losing it. They've played the Melton City Council Town Centre opening. They need about 4 by 3 metres and two power points, with cover if it's outdoors.

Good to know

What to expect

Familiar songs, played with enough push behind them that people get up. That's the whole idea with HSB (High Street Boys). The beat sits out front and the sing-along choruses do the rest, which is why the older end of the room and the younger end usually end up on the floor at the same time. Nothing precious about it. They're there to get a party moving and keep it there until the lights come on.

On the day

A flat area around 4 metres by 3 is what the band sets up in, with at least two main power sockets. Playing outdoors, they'd much rather have a roof or some cover over them, partly for the players and mostly for the gear.

Performance options

The High Street Boys need roughly four metres by three to set up in, and two power points within reach of the stage area. If you are putting them outdoors, they will want cover over the top of the band and the gear. Sort those three things out before the day and there is nothing else for you to arrange.
