Every sound you hear at a Hoola booking comes from a musician playing it. No backing tracks are used at any point, which for Hawaiian music matters, because the swing and the pace can shift with the room instead of running to a click. It's a live band from Sydney doing what live bands do.
Hoola need reasonable access to wherever they're playing, and the surface has to be level. Let them know where the power is when you're arranging things. If the performance is outdoors, they need protection from sun, rain and wind, not just rain.
Line-ups run from a duo up to a quintet, and the instruments build as the group grows. The duo is ukulele or rhythm guitar with steel guitar and vocals. A trio adds guitar or bass, a quartet has both, and the quintet brings percussion in on top. Sets are 45 minutes each, either two of them or three. Everything is played live, with no backing tracks anywhere in it.
