The act
Once the wedding floor opens, Gypsy Cats can move from a French waltz into gypsy bossa or uptempo swing. The Brisbane group began as a trio in 2016 and developed through collaboration into its current quartet. Double bass, lead guitar, rhythm guitar and trumpet give that line up its shape, with traditional jazz ballads and original pieces also in the repertoire. Their stages have included Woodford, Brisbane Festival, OzManouche, Island Vibe and Yonder, while swing dancing events have also embraced their music. What to expect
Django-style swing played by people who've put the hours in. Gypsy Cats started in Brisbane in 2016 around Roberto Fontana, Mircha Mangiacotti and Daniele Avanzini, and they've grown into a quartet since. A set doesn't sit in one gear: fast swing, gypsy bossa, older jazz ballads and French waltz all get a run, along with their own writing. Woodford, Brisbane Festival, OzManouche, Island Vibe and Yonder are all on the list of stages they've played. Swing dancers have adopted them, and dancers are unforgiving about tempo, so take that as a compliment to the rhythm section.
On the day
If your room has no sound system, they'll bring a full PA and lighting with them. If it does, they'll work with what's there. Either way it's one less thing for you to organise with the venue.
