Gus Abiz plays weddings, corporate events and private functions, and what he does best is match the music to the moment: warm and low while people are talking, then something that gets them up when the energy is there. His set mixes well-known covers with his own compositions, and he'll shape it around a theme or an era if you ask. He also runs music programs in hospitals and for vulnerable communities, which tells you something about how he thinks about a room. He needs about two metres square, and can bring his own PA for smaller events. He holds a New South Wales Working with Children Check and public liability insurance.

Gus watches how a room is going and plays to it. Early on that might be warm and low, something for people to talk over. Later, if the energy is there, he'll take it somewhere that gets people standing. It never feels like a set list being worked through. He turns up prepared, he's easy to deal with on the day, and the music feels like it belongs to your event rather than being dropped into it.
Small footprint. About two metres by two is enough performance area. In a larger venue a PA helps, and for smaller events Gus brings his own. Setup takes 30 to 45 minutes, so he's not tying up your room for half the afternoon.
Gus Abiz works in one, two or three hour sets, so the booking can be shaped around your run sheet rather than a fixed block. A shorter set suits a ceremony or an arrival period. Three hours covers a full evening across dinner and dancing.
