What to expect
Before anything is locked in they'll ask about your guests, who they are, how old they are and what they're likely to want to hear, plus any songs you've specifically asked for. Then they'll come back with a few options rather than one take-it-or-leave-it package. It sounds like a small thing. But the difference between a band who ask and a band who arrive with a fixed set is usually the difference in how the room feels by ten o'clock.
On the day
Sound and lighting are supplied by the band, and it's proper gear rather than a couple of powered speakers on sticks. That means nothing to hire in on your side and nobody chasing a cable at six o'clock. Just tell them the room and they'll bring what suits it.
Set List
One list covers weddings, private parties and corporate nights, and it moves easily between dinner music and dance music. The quieter end has At Last by Etta James, Come Away With Me and Don't Know Why by Norah Jones, Better Together by Jack Johnson, Fire And Rain and Carolina In My Mind by James Taylor, Blackbird, Fly Me To The Moon and Feels Like Home. Later on it's Blame It On The Boogie, Brown Eyed Girl, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, I Feel Good, I Want You Back, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, I Will Survive, Get Lucky, Happy and Honky Tonk Women. Aussie ones get a look in too, with Holy Grail and It Only Happens on the list.
