Fine2uned / Chris Mox

The act

One person, several jobs. Chris Mox runs Fine2uned in Sydney, and a wedding booking can take in live acoustic guitar and vocals for the ceremony, relaxed music through canapes while you're off having photos taken, then a DJ set for the reception. MC and celebrant options are there too, so the day doesn't get handed between four different suppliers. Song choices are made through an online list you get access to after booking, and a track that matters to you and isn't already in the repertoire can be learned with enough notice. PA, instruments, lighting and wireless mics for speeches are all supplied. What's needed on site is reliable 240V power, ideally two independent circuits so audio and lighting aren't fighting each other. Public liability insurance, certificates on request.

Good to know

What to expect

Chris Mox runs Fine2uned out of Sydney, and he's the one you deal with from the first conversation to the last song. That means the ceremony music, whatever you want playing while guests drift in and canapes go round, and the reception. Some couples want a solo acoustic guitar and nothing more. Others want harmonies, a full live band, or a DJ set that keeps the floor going. He'll pick the songs for each part of the day with you rather than handing you a menu, and because it's one person managing the whole run of the day, nobody's standing around wondering who's meant to be playing next.

On the day

Everything gets supplied: PA, instruments, lighting and wireless microphones for the speeches. What Chris needs from the venue is reliable 240V power, ideally two independent circuits so the audio and the lighting aren't fighting over one and tripping it. Power should sit within about 10 to 15 metres of the setup, and he brings his own heavy duty leads and boards. For a clifftop or a paddock with no power, he runs portable power stations, which give a clean steady supply rather than the voltage wobble off a standard generator. He also needs flat, level, solid ground.

Set List

Hundreds of songs across just about every genre, which is more than any page could sensibly print. Once you've booked, you get access to an interactive song list where you can pick the tracks you want, flag the ones for the big moments, or hand the whole thing over and let Chris shape it. If there's a song that means something to you and it isn't already in the book, he'll learn it. Just get the request in around four weeks out so there's time to arrange and rehearse it properly.

Performance options

Packages get built around the flow of your day rather than picked off a shelf. The ceremony is live acoustic guitar and vocals as you come down the aisle. Canapes are relaxed and a bit more upbeat, covering the stretch while you're off getting photos taken. Then the reception moves from dinner music through to either a live band or a DJ set, depending on what you want the dance floor to feel like. Sound system, dance floor and atmospheric lighting and wireless mics for speeches come with every combination. For a beach or park ceremony there's fully wireless, battery powered audio, so you're not listening to a generator underneath your vows.
