Dancefloor jazz, deep soul rhythms and heavyweight funk, played live by a band that grew out of Sydney's club scene. Eon Beats is led by saxophonist Rick Robertson, with Evelyn Duprai on vocals, Ian Mussington on drums, Gerard Masters on keys and Alex Hewetson on bass. The group formed to play clubs and held down residencies at Bennelong at the Opera House, the Slip Inn and the Home Bar, alongside festival sets at St Kilda, the Darling Harbour Jazz Festival and Playground Weekender. They released the album Blue Rhythm People, their fifth of original material. These days the band often takes the stage eight or nine strong, adding percussion, DJ and a horn section.
