Kids singing and dancing to top 40, and Steve keeping it moving with games and activities pitched at their age. Twenty plus years of parties sits behind that, and it mostly shows in the timing: knowing when a room of eight year olds needs a game and when to just let them dance. Parents and teachers get encouraged onto the floor too, which the kids find hilarious. And there's a version for the older ones, so an 18th is covered as well.
Plenty of open space, because the games need room as much as the dancing does. The setup goes near a power point, so pick a spot in the hall or the yard with an outlet within reach and keep it clear. Beyond that there's not much for you to organise. Worth thinking about where the dance floor sits relative to the food table, so the two don't end up in the same square metre.
Discos run as two hour parties, and the shape changes with who's dancing: a birthday at home, a primary school disco, or a high school and commercial event where the room is bigger and the music older. If two hours won't cover it, the booking stretches by the hour. Beyond the core setup there are UV lights, 3D lasers and a fog machine to choose from, and VIP invitations you can hand out to the guest list beforehand, which kids tend to take very seriously. Tell them the age group and the venue and they'll tell you what suits.
