The act
DJ Atman is a Varsity Lakes-based DJ.
Deep house and minimal electronics hit first, then live percussion, didgeridoo and bass pull the set out from behind the decks. DJ Atman also folds in his own productions, including music from NOMAD, so it feels closer to a live performance than a straight DJ set. The sound draws on Berlin's underground and electronic scenes in Germany, the Netherlands and Prague, with Turkish, Middle Eastern, Indian, Balkan and Latin influences threaded through it. At a wedding, that makes sense when you want the dance floor to feel a little transportive from the first few songs, without settling into one genre all night. Based in Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast, this suits a couple chasing something global and a bit left of centre.
