What to expect
This is a show, not a covers set. Live music runs alongside spoken stories about what life actually looked like in the 70s, with footage playing on a big screen behind the band, and the three together pull an audience back into the period rather than just reminding them of it. The journey starts in the funky early 70s and works forward into the electronic pop that followed, through Donna Summer, Saturday Night Fever, Earth Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson and the rest of the names that built the sound. Audiences want to be surprised, and that's what the format is for.
Set List
Everything comes as medleys, the best section of each song stitched into long chapters so the floor never has to stop. The first half moves through Superstition, I Wish, Kung Fu Fighting, Lady Marmalade, You Sexy Thing, Play That Funky Music, Daddy Cool, Turn the Beat Around, then into Night Fever, Stayin' Alive, You Should Be Dancing and Disco Inferno, before I Feel Love, Hot Stuff, September, Boogie Wonderland, Let's Groove, Heart of Glass and Call Me. The second half picks up with Funkytown, Born to Be Alive, Celebration, Le Freak, We Are Family, I Will Survive, then Billie Jean, Beat It, What a Feeling, Fame, Maniac, Footloose, It's Raining Men, Jump, Walking on Sunshine, Kiss and Y.M.C.A. Total running time is 135 minutes with a 20 minute break.
Performance options
The whole thing comes as one show, booked in one go. Two conditions shape it. The venue needs to be within a sensible drive of Melbourne, and it needs a PA good enough to carry seven performers plus the screen audio. Where the room already has that, the show slots straight in. If it doesn't, the PA can come from them instead, so say what the space has when you enquire. Screen and projector are always included.
