The band can go either way on the night. Push the tempo and there's real dancing in it, with the kind of set that gets people up and moving in circles. Pull it back and the same players will sit under conversation, elegant and unobtrusive, while your guests eat and talk. Tell them which mode you want, or where in the evening you want it to change, and they'll build the night that way.
Small room, no amplification needed. Celtic Folk will play fully acoustic, or plug into their own small sound system if you'd rather have a bit more volume, in which case power is about all they'll ask you for. Bigger venues are a different job. For a room that needs a more dominant sound, you'll want a larger PA supplied at your end. Playing outside? Some cover overhead is appreciated, for the instruments as much as the players.
