The act
cate guirguis writes indie pop out of Sydney: gentle melodies, and lyrics drawn from her own past and the lives of people around her. The live show is where it gets interesting. She loops her voice on stage, layering vocals into something lush and faintly theatrical, a habit that comes straight out of years singing in choirs. Missy Higgins and Adele shaped the music, while Lauren Spencer Smith and Taylor Swift's early records shaped the writing. Alongside the originals sits a broad covers list, from Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes through Fleetwood Mac, Ed Sheeran and Gracie Abrams. She performs solo, on guitar or piano. Insured.
