Between them there are years of work locally and internationally, plus recording credits across television, film and radio, so the playing is precise without being showy. Violin and accordion carry most of it, through jazz standards and continental tunes such as A Foggy Day, As Time Goes By, Besame Mucho and Caravan. And the volume stays where conversation is still possible, which is the whole point at a cocktail hour or over dinner.
On the day
They bring every piece of gear themselves, so the requirements are genuinely minimal. Access to power somewhere close by is the main one. They carry extension leads, though the shorter the run the better. They're acoustic and prefer to sit at conversational volume, but a touch of amplification helps in rooms where sound disappears, and outdoors it almost always does. Speaking of outdoors: shelter is not optional. Violins and accordions don't take kindly to sun or rain, and neither do the people playing them.
