Classic rock, soul and groove give Brothers In Groove a direct route to a wedding floor filled with familiar songs. The repertoire stretches from late seventies favourites through the eighties and nineties to current music, with more than two hundred songs available. AC/DC, Cold Chisel, INXS, Queen, Stevie Wonder and Tina Turner are among the artists the band can draw on as it reads the room. Choose four players for male lead vocals, guitar, bass and drums, or add a female singer for a five person format. The point to hear them is after the formalities, when singalongs can turn into a full evening of dancing.

Solid is the word this band uses about itself, and on South East Queensland stages that's the job: late seventies, eighties and nineties material plus a handful of current songs, all of it chosen because people know the words. You'll hear singing along early and dancing not long after. It's not a listening gig. It's a band playing to fill a floor and keep it full.
Give them about an hour and a half before the first song. That's load-in, setup and checking everything actually works, which is why they'd rather arrive early than rush it. Space needed is a minimum of three metres by four, enough for four or five musicians and all the gear. A table off to the side for the breaks helps, and given they're often on site five or six hours from load-in to pack down, a meal and something to drink goes down well.
Over 200 songs sit behind this band, and the set gets picked on the night to suit the room. The rock end covers AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Poison and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Australian material runs to Cold Chisel, INXS and Choir Boys. Then there's the soul and groove side, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Lenny Kravitz and The Doobie Brothers, plus Creedence Clearwater Revival, Queen, Billy Idol, Billy Joel and The Commitments. Classic tunes, in other words, with current favourites mixed through, and the common thread is songs that get a foot tapping before anyone's decided to dance.
