The Pointy Heads is a Perth-based American old-time string band.
Four-part harmonies, banjo and guitar, fiddle, double bass and cajón put The Pointy Heads firmly in roots territory, with a folk sound that still has a modern streak. They're a four-piece from Perth, and that line-up carries a full, earthy sound without needing much room. Their sets mix their own songs with reworked favourites, drawing on writers and acts such as Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen, Old Crow Medicine Show and Johnny Cash. They do play weddings, and this feels especially well suited to canapés or an early evening set where guests can actually catch the harmonies as well as the pulse underneath. If there is one spot in a wedding day to hear them, the drinks after the ceremony would be a lovely place for that warm, rootsy blend to land.
