Cigar box guitar, slide, open tunings and a hard hitting drum kit. AlphaStomp are a two piece from Burleigh Heads who take blues the Muddy Waters way and rough it up with Hendrix, Rolling Stones and AC/DC influences, played on instruments most punters have never seen up close. They've done Blues on Broadbeach, Cooly Rocks, Buskers by the Creek and a headline show at the Gold Coast Arts Centre, and a European run took in Vienna, Prague and Poland's Suwalki Blues Festival. Loud, raw and built for pubs, festivals and parties that want grit rather than polish. Public liability insurance held.

What to expect
Two players, no filler. AlphaStomp are loud from the first bar: cigar box guitar run through slide and open tunings over a drummer who hits hard. Blues is the foundation, Muddy Waters style, but it gets shoved around by Hendrix, the Stones and AC/DC until it is closer to rock. Part of the fun is watching people work out what the instruments actually are, because most crowds have never seen a cigar box guitar up close. Festivals, pubs and parties after grit rather than polish are where this sits best.
