Steampunk costumes, stage props and a light show come standard. Alchemy of Rhythm are an Adelaide band who treat a gig as theatre, dressing up and building a spectacle around the music. The set runs about 90 per cent covers and 10 per cent originals, pulling from the 1970s through to current hits across rock, pop, ballads and reggae, all of it good-natured and built for dancing. And everything's included: PA, lighting, props, stage and a sound engineer come with the band, so the venue just needs to supply the crowd.

Nothing much, as it turns out. The PA system comes with the band, along with the lighting, the props and the stage itself, and a sound engineer travels with them to run it. That's a fairly unusual amount to have covered by one booking. What it means for you is that the venue doesn't have to hire in production or find someone to mix the room, and there's no separate supplier to coordinate on the day.
