Well suited to a couple who want one pair of musicians to move with the day, from a hushed ceremony to more pulse by the reception. Alba & Svet are a Darlinghurst duo on voice, piano and guitar, in whatever combination the moment asks for, across jazz, soul, pop and Latin. Between Argentina, Bulgaria and Australia they've built more than fifteen years of performing, and weddings are something they specialise in. Book up to two hours for a ceremony or the drinks, three to four hours with short breaks, or five hours from the vows through canapes to the reception, with extra musicians for a fuller sound. What to expect
Voice, piano and guitar, in whatever combination fits the room. That flexibility is the useful part: a ceremony might want one instrument and a voice, while later in the night calls for more. The repertoire moves through jazz, soul, pop and Latin, and it gets chosen for the moment rather than run in a fixed order, so the music sits under conversation when it should and lifts when the room does. Special song requests are welcome, which is worth using if there's a track that means something to you. Setup is quick and the changes between one part of the event and the next are handled without fuss.
On the day
A two by two metre performance space is enough, with two standard power outlets within reach. Outdoors, the gear needs cover from weather, so a marquee or verandah rather than open lawn. Evening events want enough light to actually see the players. And easy access for carrying instruments in and out saves everyone time at both ends of the night. A PA can be supplied on request if your venue has none.
Performance options
Three ways to book the duo, and the difference is how much of your day they cover. The shortest is up to two hours of live music on voice, piano and guitar, which suits a ceremony, a cocktail hour or a smaller sit down affair. The next covers three to four hours with short breaks worked in, moving between the different parts of the event without an awkward gap in the middle. The longest runs up to five hours and takes the music right across ceremony, canapes and reception, with the option of extra musicians joining for a bigger sound. Repertoire gets picked to suit the mood of each one.
