Alana K And The Leftovers are four seasoned Melbourne musicians playing old-school soul, blues and R&B, and their love of the style is the engine of the show. They pay tribute to Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Tina Turner, to James Brown, Wilson Pickett and Jackie Wilson, to BB King and John Lee Hooker, with Screamin' Jay Hawkins for the wilder end. It's live and energy-filled, the kind of set that belongs after the speeches, once the floor is open and the jackets are off. A natural fit for a couple who'd rather their wedding dance floor ran on soul and blues than on a playlist, and who want a band that plainly means it.
