What to expect
A guitar cover duo, acoustic and electric blended together, playing weddings, private celebrations and corporate work. Both hold Bachelor degrees in Popular Music from the Elder Conservatorium at the University of Adelaide, with years of live performance on top of that. The duo can grow into a 3, 4 or 5 piece with keyboard, drums and extra vocalists. There's also a handpan player available for ambient moments, the sort of thing that works beautifully before the bride arrives at a ceremony. The repertoire spans four decades, from Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, Counting Crows, Jack Johnson, Missy Higgins and Feist through to Prince, James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac, Michael Jackson, Carole King, The Animals, The Eagles and The Beatles. Birthdays, anniversaries, house parties, trade shows, awards nights and charity events all suit them.
On the day
They fit into roughly 2.5m by 2.5m, with speakers positioned in front of that. The QSC sound system is theirs, speakers, mixing desk, microphones, leads and the rest. Setting up takes about an hour including the sound check, and packing down around 30 minutes. The one thing they can't do without is a power point nearby, though where there's no 240V supply they can usually hire a battery inverter to cover it, quoted separately. Ask about stage lighting, laser lights and a smoke machine if you want the extra production.
Set List
They play remixed versions of songs from the 1960s to now, and the arrangements are the point: people regularly tell them the versions sound fresher than the originals they know. They also dodge the songs you have heard a thousand times, picking lesser played tracks by well known artists instead. The list changes for every event and client. Recent names in it include Missy Higgins, Jack Johnson, Feist, John Mayer, Jon Bellion, Elliott Smith, King Princess, Justin Bieber, Counting Crows and Ed Sheeran, with older material selected from Prince, James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac, Michael Jackson, Carole King, The Animals, Spencer Davis Group, Coldplay, The Eagles, The Beatles and Roxette. Plenty of it is upbeat, but there are melodic pieces in there too that suit intimate venues, cocktail functions and wine bars. Requests around a particular theme are welcome.
