The act
Half live gig, half DJ set, one booking. Aaron James is an Irish-born, Sydney-based acoustic musician who uses live looping to build layered arrangements on the spot, then swaps the guitar for the decks when the night calls for it. That combination suits weddings especially well: acoustic songs through the ceremony and dinner, then a DJ set to fill the dance floor with no changeover between acts. His repertoire runs from classic hits to the current charts, taking in folk, country and a little Irish material along the way. He also plays pubs, corporate functions and private parties, and holds public liability insurance.

What to expect
One performer, two jobs. Aaron plays solo acoustic and uses live looping to stack parts up as he goes, so a single guitar and voice end up sounding fuller than one player should. Covers run from older standards through to what's charting now. The DJ side is available as part of the same booking, which means the acoustic set can hand straight over to recorded music without a gap or a second act arriving. Pubs, weddings, corporate functions and private parties are all on his regular calendar.
