007: The Bond Band!

The act

Every James Bond theme, played live in black tie. From Goldfinger and Thunderball through Live And Let Die, Nobody Does It Better and GoldenEye, this show band works the whole 007 songbook across a 60 to 90 minute stage show, with lavish costume and headpiece changes along the way. Where the venue can take it, a full-sized glittering concert grand piano lands on stage too. The band scales from a 4 piece up to a 10 piece, with extra singers, sax or a brass section on request, and they can open the night with a cocktail set for a classier early hour. It's built for formal corporate events that want theatre with their music, and the band tours Australia-wide.

Good to know

What to expect

Black tie, live band, and the 007 songbook played properly. The stage show runs somewhere between 60 and 90 minutes, working through the orchestrated themes from the film series, and there are grand headpiece and costume changes woven through it rather than tacked on at the end. Line-up size is yours to pick, from a basic 4 piece up to a full 10 piece. Where the venue can physically take one, a full-sized glittering concert grand piano goes on stage as well. It's aimed at formal and black tie events, and it plays like theatre as much as a gig.

On the day

Tell them what time your doors open and they'll be set up and off the floor at least half an hour before your first guest walks in. Sound and lighting depend on the venue. Plenty of Australian rooms insist on their own in-house rig and engineer, which is fine by the band. If yours doesn't, say so early and their own gear goes into the quote. A stage isn't essential, though every band plays better on one. Six metres by three is the smallest area they can work in.

Set List

It's the full run of Bond themes, decade by decade. The early John Barry and Matt Monro era, then Shirley Bassey on Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker, Tom Jones on Thunderball and Nancy Sinatra on You Only Live Twice. The 70s and 80s bring Live And Let Die by Paul McCartney and Wings, The Man With The Golden Gun by Lulu, Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon, For Your Eyes Only by Sheena Easton, All-Time High by Rita Coolidge, A View To A Kill by Duran Duran, The Living Daylights by A-ha and Licence To Kill by Gladys Knight. Then GoldenEye by Tina Turner, Tomorrow Never Dies by Sheryl Crow, The World Is Not Enough by Garbage, Die Another Day by Madonna, You Know My Name by Chris Cornell, Another Way To Die by Jack White and Alicia Keys, Skyfall by Adele, Writing's On The Wall by Sam Smith and No Time To Die by Billie Eilish.

Performance options

There's no fixed menu here, which is deliberate. The band adds players on request, so saxophone, extra singers or a whole brass section can go into the line-up. Their usual arrival is 6pm, and they'll come in earlier if your guests need the room set up sooner. They can also play against type: instead of a straight dance floor band, a cocktail set or two makes for a calmer, dressier start to the evening. Ask for what your night actually needs and they'll come back with options.
